Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), NITI Aayog’s flagship initiative focused on women entrepreneurs, in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) Project Her&Now, hosted a roadshow in Guwahati on 26th September 2019. The event brought together opportunities to engage with entrepreneurs, industry experts and investors on one forum. The event included a special address by Ms Jyotsna Sitling, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Ms Manjula Saikia Bhuyan, Additional Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam, and was attended by the state government of Assam, eminent ecosystem players such as IIE, FICCI FLO, etc and more than 60 women entrepreneurs. To discuss on the theme of women entrepreneurship ecosystem building in the North Eastern Region, GIZ invited industry experts from the entrepreneurship and investment domains to participate in two interactive panel discussions on the topics – “How do we scale women entrepreneurship in the North East” and “Increasing accessibility to funds to women entrepreneurs in the North East to build scalable enterprises”.

Workshop on value chains for women entrepreneurship

3 workshops on value chains for women entrepreneurship were held in Guwahati, Hyderabad and Jaipur in the month of August, which were attended by 140 ecosystem experts and entrepreneurs. The objective was to gain insights into the top sectors and value chains that lend themselves to entrepreneurship for women-led enterprises

3 workshops on value chains for women entrepreneurship were held in Guwahati, Hyderabad and Jaipur in the month of August, which were attended by 140 ecosystem experts and entrepreneurs. The objective was to gain insights into the top sectors and value chains that lend themselves to entrepreneurship for women-led enterprises in all three project implementation regions. The results of the workshops will inform a study of the top 3 value chains per region, the study will be published soon.

Her&Now Launch

The project ‘Her&Now’ launched its first cohorts of women entrepreneurs for the state of Rajasthan on the 20th of September in Jaipur. 33 women will be supported to turn their ideas into businesses, and 18 women will be given support to grow their existing enterprises. This was followed by the launch of the first cohorts – a total of 24 women entrepreneurs – in Telangana, which took place on the 25th of September in Hyderabad. The event was attended by the German Consul General Chennai Ms. Karin Stoll, members from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and the Telangana government The project launched the last of the three cohorts of its incubation and acceleration support programme for women entrepreneurs in the North Eastern Region. 43 women are part of the incubation programme and 21 women participate in the acceleration programme, which is implemented in Shillong (Meghalaya), Imphal (Manipur) and Jorhat (Assam).
